MadMacs, which brings to mind a famous film starring Mel Gibson, is a tool that allows users to change a MAC address and host name on their computer randomly. By changing the MAC address, the information stored on a DHCP server will be associated with a different, fictitious address, thus ensuring privacy on a local network. This tool is user-friendly, requiring only the input of the address prefix. A list of manufacturers can be accessed at specific addresses. MadMacs has the capability to modify addresses of any network device, whether it is wireless or Ethernet. To generate a random host name using MadMacs, simply include a dic.txt file in the program directory. An example file is provided with the application.
